Our Goals

A child needs to grow spiritually.

“Trust the Lord with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

To fulfill this Scripture, a child must grow in his or her relationship with the Lord by hearing the Bible, praying, and by the application of both in his or her life.

A child needs to grow intellectually.

“For the Lord gives wisdom.” (Proverbs 2:6)

A child needs to learn God’s wisdom and man’s intellectual knowledge. His or her path for that intellectual knowledge is the development of the ability to listen and to follow directions. Knowledge will be gained in vocabulary, math, number concepts, visual and auditory discrimination, science, music, and crafts.

A child needs to grow emotionally.

“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

A child needs to be encouraged in his or her successes and mistakes. He or she needs to be loved and accepted as he or she is, both physically and mentally, and for interests, skills, and talents. Children must learn to like themselves as God created them before they can love and accept others.

A child needs to grow physically.

“The child grew and became strong…” (Luke 2:40)

A child needs to develop small and large muscles with play equipment. Opportunities are needed to develop large muscle coordination by running, jumping, hopping, and skipping. He or she needs opportunities to develop small muscle coordination by using puzzles and peg boards and by drawing, pasting, and cutting.

A child needs to grow socially.

“Be imitators of God…” (Ephesians 5:1)

…with Christ-like character: humility toward God and self; kindness to others; sharing with others; forgiveness of all deeds and of others; patience with others and self; compassion for others; obedience to authority.

A child needs to grow in the teachings of the Bible.

“…do to others what you would have them do to you…” (Matthew 7:12)

A child should learn God’s Word and how to apply it in his or her life, such as accepting others as God made them and treating others as he or she wants to be treated.
